Remote tachograph downloads for UK HGV fleets
Remote tachograph download means pulling driver-card and vehicle-unit files from the tachograph over a compatible telematics link, instead of plugging in at the depot every time. FleetPro is preparing this as a FleetPro Tracking service for compatible FMC650 installs on the HGV + Tacho plan. It is not yet offered as a finished end-to-end product into tachograph analysis — use this page to send a compatibility enquiry. Today, operators still import .ddd files via web upload or the Windows Upload Utility for analysis.
Coming soon — compatibility enquiry
Remote tachograph download is not yet a finished end-to-end FleetPro product into analysis. Enquire about FMC650 wiring and HGV + Tacho plan expectations. For .ddd files you already hold, use the Windows Upload Utility or web upload with tachograph analysis.
What you can manage
- Educational guide to remote VU and driver-card downloads
- Compatibility enquiry for FMC650 / HGV + Tacho intent
- Clear separation from GPS tracking and analysis
- Windows Upload Utility still available for .ddd transfer today
What remote download is — and is not
Remote download is authorised company-card access to the vehicle unit and driver cards through telematics hardware and connectivity. It is not GPS tracking alone, not CAN fuel data, and not copying files from a USB stick or watched folder on a PC. The FleetPro Upload Utility transfers files you already hold; analysis reviews those files for hours and infringements.
Intended FleetPro eligibility
When the service is available, our intended offering centres on the FMC650 with tachograph wiring, on the Tracking HGV + Tacho plan. Light trackers such as the FMC003 are for location and journey tracking, not remote tachograph download. Other devices on the wider market may support remote download — we only describe our own catalogue here.
What you still need to manage
Operators remain responsible for company-card control, download deadlines, failed-download contingencies, and reviewing analysis. Remote download does not replace transport-manager oversight or automatically guarantee legal compliance.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy remote tachograph download as a finished service today?
Not as a finished end-to-end FleetPro product into analysis. Send a compatibility enquiry and we will confirm hardware, wiring and plan expectations. Meanwhile use web upload or the Windows Upload Utility with tachograph analysis packages.
Is the Upload Utility the same as remote download?
No. The Upload Utility sends .ddd files already downloaded to a PC (watched folder, USB or manual pick). Remote download pulls files from the tachograph via telematics.
Which FleetPro tracker is intended for remote download?
In our range, the FMC650 on the HGV + Tacho plan, with suitable tachograph wiring. Confirm compatibility before ordering or installing.
